Training Course Syllabus:


This seminar will offer an in-depth analysis of how administrators and teachers can ensure that they develop educationally meaningful and legally correct individualized education programs (IEP) for students in special education. Other issues in special education, such as addressing problem behaviors in the IEP and meeting the requirements of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and No Child Left Behind for special educators will also be examined.

Seminar highlights:

  • Explain the newly reauthorized IDEA Improvement Act Of 2004
  • Review the No Child Left Behind Act of 2004
  • Describe how these laws will affect general and special education programs for students with disabilities
  • Clarify how parents, teachers and administrators can ensure that both the letter and spirits of these laws are met by developing legally correct and meaningful programs for children and youth with disabilities

Learning objectives:

  • The attendee will be able to discuss recent developments in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, No Child Left Behind Act and other laws affecting special education.
  • The attendee will be able to develop, or supervise the development of, an educationally meaningful and legally correct Individual Education Program.
  • The attendee will be able to explain the importance and legal necessity of addressing students' problem behavior in their Individual Education Program.
