Pumps and Pump Systems: Specification,
Installation, and Operation - Industrial Training
Instead of spending time replacing or repairing a
pump, it is much more efficient to focus on preventing pump failure in the first
place. From the pump and pump system, to the people who operate, maintain and
design the pump system, this seminar will teach students how to identify the
real problems causing pump failure, and how to avoid repeating those problems in
the future. It starts by covering basic pump functions and features so that the
students can learn how to properly specify a pump.
After learning how to select the right pump, proper system design, pump
installation and preventive maintenance practices are covered before moving on
to additional discussions on pump optimization, failure analysis and condition
monitoring.
This class will include the following discussion topics:
Pump Classification
Basic Hydraulic & Pump Concepts & Definitions
How Centrifugal Pumps Work
Net Positive Suction Head (NPSH)
Horsepower & Efficiency
Reading Pump Curves
Pump System Curves
Effect of Pump Operation on Mechanical Reliability
Specifying the Right Pump
Bearings
Seals & Packing for Pumps
Good Pump System Design and Installation Practices
Optimizing Your Pump Operation
Pump Troubleshooting
Condition Monitoring of Pumps
