Clients with Bipolar Disorder, ADHD, Oppositional-Defiant Disorder, Conduct Disorder, Intermittent Explosive Disorder, as well as several of the Cluster B Personality Disorders, share common deficits in emotional and behavioral regulation. These deficits can often result in explosive outbursts that damage relationships, disrupt work or school performance, contribute to low self-esteem, and promote depression and anxiety. Explosiveness of this kind is not age discriminate. We treat clients who are expelled from daycare or school, lose employment and are divorced because of poor anger management and loss of control.
Taught by Tracy Underwood, Ph.D., this workshop provides useful interventions based on the most current research and experience for individuals with explosive anger. The neuroscience behind explosiveness will be explored and participants will gain useful tools for utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
within an experiential modality. Clinicians will be provided with treatment
plans for explosive adults, teens and children. Dr. Underwood will discuss
common treatment challenges such as noncompliance, poor motivation and
resistance and offer recommendations for each challenge. Support and
interventions for family members of explosive clients will also be discussed.
Finally, the role of violence in the media will be addressed. Clinicians will
leave the seminar with proven techniques that help regulate their emotionally
