Training Course Syllabus:

California, Utah, Tennessee and Nevada all have laws about workplace bullying. The California law requires that only sexual harassment trainers mention prevention of abusive conduct in their AB 1825 training. But what happens when you receive a complaint about abusive conduct once your sexual harassment trainer leaves the building? The law says you don’t have to do anything but doing nothing is not the right answer. Even if you’re not a California employer, are you going to tell employees you’re not required by law to help them deal with abusive conduct? Probably not!

Tennessee, Utah and Nevada laws only address bullying in specific sectors – if you’re not in that sector you can legally ignore abusive conduct. But CareerBuilder found that up to 35% of the workforce feels bullied. Workplace bullying is systematic psychological abuse that causes increased turnover, communication breakdown, reduced quality in work and poor customer service. Are you going to ignore abusive conduct in your workplace because the law says you can?

  • Describe damage caused to targets, bystanders, and the organization in order to make a business case for ending it

  • Understand how AB 2053 requires more work from HR than a simple mention of abusive conduct in sexual harassment training
