Training Course
Syllabus:
Growing organizations need capable managers to supervise remote locations. The
internet has made it possible for organizations to employ people literally
around the world. Contact is instantaneous, but real communication isn't as
easy. Despite the many advantages of a workforce located in multiple locations,
the managers of such teams require special skills - the skills you will gain at
this intensive 2-day program.
Managers who attend this
program are able to resolve conflicts quickly and easily; communicate more
effectively by phone, e-mail, and in person; and draw the highest contribution
from staff members - no matter where they are located.
Gain the leadership
qualities required to successfully manage multiple locations. When
you're managing staff from a distance, you must make your presence felt by
giving directions in an actionable, decisive manner. Your expectations must be
clear, and you must be able to delegate. Any skills you need for face-to-face
supervision/employee relationships must be even stronger in long-distance
relationships. At this seminar, you will learn how to acquire and project the
leadership qualities essential to success.
Learn how to structure your remote team for
maximum effectiveness. Discover which productivity measures give you
the most accurate read on how your team is progressing, and learn how to
encourage self-sufficiency without cutting yourself out of the situation.
Acquire critical thinking skills essential
for creative problem solving - on-site or off! You'll gain the skills
to understand the type of work climate needed for generating innovative ideas
and how to get staff in remote locations to participate in creative problem
solving.
Be able to manage
conflict in remote teams and encourage positive momentum. At this
seminar, you'll learn how to diagnose the cause of conflict - even from a
distance - and defuse or channel it into a positive outcome. You'll also learn
how to train others to deal with conflict effectively using the Manager's
Conflict checklist and gain a method for anticipating problems in your remote
teams before they erupt into team-damaging situations.
Use the clear
communication style essential for successful management from a
distance. Find out how to encourage an open exchange of information and
viewpoints, and understand how to express your reactions and opinions without
intimidating staff.
Learn the art of
interviewing, hiring, and handling performance evaluations. It's
difficult enough to hire the best person when you and your team work in the same
location. That's why at this seminar you'll learn about the different types of
interviews successfully used in hiring staff for remotely located teams, gain
interviewing techniques that keep your organization out of legal hot water, and
discover approaches to performance appraisals that result in positive outcomes.
Be able to motivate
your staff from a distance. Learn the keys to establishing personal
accountability and 4 tips for successful long distance coaching. You'll also
gain skills for boosting team morale, and discover free and inexpensive perks
you can use to motivate your staff.
Conquer the stress
of managing remotely. Learn ways to manage stress while traveling and
while away from your team and develop a strategy that increases your personal
productivity. You will learn how to differentiate between the urgent and the
important and use the Pareto Principle to clarify where you should focus your
time and effort.
