Training Course Syllabus:


This two-part Caucus meeting addresses some of the most profound issues that impact your position today. Understanding the impact of the “global economy” and evolving technologies is a much debated subject. However, these are not merely business or political trends, they are reality. In this full day session, our experienced practitioners will address some of the key concepts you need in order to have the tools to help address this evolution head on. Some of Caucus’s finest experts will lead this insightful session.

The first part of the meeting will uncover international negotiator attributes. How do you prepare to negotiate a global contact? How do you overcome the mystique of dealing internationally? How do cultural differences impact negotiations?

In addition to attributes, what are the key international issues you must know before signing a global contract? Those issues include: UNCISG, Incoterms, arbitration, international or multinational, European Union and some specific country issues. Using BEST methodology and real international experience, we will guide you through the basics.

The second portion of this meeting addresses Software Hot Topics. Our seasoned panel, all representing local corporations, will discuss some of the software business concerns they have faced in recent times. The panel will summarize some of their software puzzles, but also take questions from the participants. Some of the hot topics to be addressed include the following:
Adapting to the move from perpetual to subscription pricing models

*Usage metrics

*Budgeting spend for software maintenance fees

*SOA automation methods, tools and infrastructure

*Open Source – what it is, the risks and opportunities

*Software as a Service (SaaS)

*Embedded software – production vs. distribution licensing

*Freeware, shrink-wrap, etc.

*Contract issues to include warranty, definitions, limitation of liability
