The Small Business Marketing Institute has a mission to teach, motivate, inspire, and encourage entrepreneurs and small business owners to maximize their sales and profits.
Editors from the Institute spend hundreds of hours each month researching current small business marketing techniques and ideas. The concepts and programs are condensed and delivered to our members through our Web site, rich media presentations, and live events.
The Institute was founded by Trent Ricker. Trent serves as the Dean of the virtual learning center and his 18 years of small business marketing, entrepreneurship, and small business ownership provide invaluable guidance for the Institute.
Trent graduated from the University of Colorado in 1990 with a BS in Small Business Management and Entrepreneurship. He then joined a family business and led Michael Ricker Pewter as President until 2000. The network of national art galleries provided Trent with diverse experience in brick-and-mortar retail business as well as product development, pricing, manufacturing, and wholesale business operations.
Trent successfully led Michael Ricker Pewter into the digital age and helped launch the online gallery in 1997. His experiences in the early marketing years of the Internet, particularly in segmented direct mail and email marketing, led him to start his own Interactive Marketing Agency in 2000.
He launched 23airmail Interactive Marketing Agency in 2000 in Denver. Serving over 100 clients from Fortune 100 corporations to start-up small businesses, Trent immersed himself in Internet marketing for his clients and served as Chief Marketing Strategist. His expertise included Search Engine Optimization, email marketing, Web development strategy, rich media development strategy, and offline promotions leading to Web-based sales efforts.
Trent now serves as the Dean of the Small Business Marketing Institute and is the primary author and editor of content for the membership. He is also the keynote speaker at all live events. He lives in Denver with his wife and daughter.
Joining the faculty at the Institute include a broad diversity of small business veterans and savvy marketers. Trent's vast network of marketing associates from the traditional advertising and marketing world to the non-traditional entrepreneurial world provides the Institute with a variety of fresh perspectives.
