Effective Use of Games in Child Therapy -
Therapy / Healthcare Training Seminar
Discover how to Use Games as a Part of Child Therapy
Children often lack the verbal ability and insight to adequately discuss their
difficulties and challenges. Many children don't know why they are in counseling
and many others resent being forced to come in by their parents. This makes it
necessary for child clinicians to constantly innovate and look for new ways to
interact with their young clients. Games are a valuable therapeutic tool and
have been in use in child therapy for decades. However, most training programs
don't include comprehensive instruction on the use of games in child therapy. In
addition, there are now hundreds of board games, card games, and books of games
available to child clinicians. As a result it can be very difficult to know what
games to select, how to use them, and how to implement a game once it has been
This workshop will provide a comprehensive review of how and when to use games
in child therapy and counseling. Participants will learn how to use games to
engage their clients, reduce resistance, and foster a therapeutic environment.
Participants will become familiar with categories of games and specific games so
that they can better select games appropriate to their practice. The emphasis in
this workshop is on having fun, playing games, and making the process
therapeutic and enjoyable for our clients. By the end of this workshop
participants will be able to use games and material that they already have on
