Training Course Syllabus:


This seminar is designed for human resource and payroll professionals, business owners and managers, accountants and attorneys.

This seminar comes on the heels of sweeping patient privacy legislation, the HIPAA Privacy Regulations, that went into effect in April of 2003. The implications of these regulations are far-reaching and, as the seminar will demonstrate, not merely confined to the health care industry. Employers outside the medical field are facing critical questions regarding their responsibilities to their employees under these regulations in the absence of much clarity or direction from the federal government. The object of this seminar is to guide employers through these complex regulations and to provide an understanding of the many variables that may necessitate partial or total compliance. We will then discuss other laws which affect the collection, retention and dissemination of employee health information. Finally, the seminar will integrate the requirements of HIPAA and other laws by suggesting methods of recording and organizing employee medical records which are intended to be effective and compliant.
