Medicine Webinar
Concussion injuries are receiving considerable attention in the media causing concern for athletes, parents, and sport program administrators. According to the Centers for Disease Control, 1.6 – 3.8 million sports and recreation-related concussions occur in the United States each year. Concussions account for up to 5% of all sports injuries.
This webinar will use recent literature to provide participants the most current understanding of concussion injury. The causes and risk factors of concussion injuries will be explored. An overview of the best practices will be presented including sideline identification, diagnosis, treatment, practice restrictions, and safe return to participation. The webinar will utilize results from published and ongoing research examining mild traumatic brain injury outcomes for patients.
