Designing Sports-Specific Programs to Build Strength, Power, Speed & Agility

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Searching for a way to improve an athlete's skill level while reducing the frequency of injuries? Find the answers with Greg Hogue, a physical therapist and strength and conditioning specialist who has worked in orthopedic and sports medicine for 25 years. His course will equip you with the tools to properly evaluate energy system needs, functional movement patterns, and the specific demands of any given sport. Walk away with the knowledge to implement periodization concepts for design and progression of programs to build strength, power, speed, and agility. Expand your practice and career opportunities with the evidence-based program designs shared by Mr. Hogue.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

•Incorporate exercise physiology concepts into program design for athletes for better results

•Discuss periodization concept and progression, such as the advantages to prescribing power lifts over Olympic lifts and vice versa

•Create speed and agility programs for various kind of athletes

•Perform core and LE core evaluation and prescribe programs with appropriate progression

•Implement plyometric program with appropriate progression

•Review case studies for practical application of concepts covered
 

PRESENTER'S BIO

GREG HOGUE, PT, CSCS, OCS, is the director of physical therapy of orthopedic rehabilitation and specialty centers of Conway, Arkansas. In addition, Mr. Hogue serves as the speed and agility coach for the Arkansas Rush soccer club. A graduate of the University of Central Arkansas, he has practiced in outpatient orthopedic and sports medicine settings for 25 years. He received his certification as a strength and conditioning specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association in 2005. In that same year, Mr. Hogue received his board certification in orthopedics through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties of the APTA. Using his extensive knowledge and experience in the field of physical therapy and strength and conditioning training, he has both co-authored manuals and lectured about strength and conditioning program design for youth high school and collegiate athletes.
