Training Course Syllabus:


This concentrated program focuses on the critical perspectives labor, HR, and legal professionals need to operate effectively in a global environment.† It will consider innovative responses to regional regulations (such as the European works council directive), union pressures (such as cross-national pressure campaigns), or worker rights challenges.† The program begins with an overview of how labor and human resource practices operate in North America, Latin America, and Asia.† It then reviews emerging international challenges and leading edge corporate responses.† The course will include case examples of positive labor relations strategies and approaches multi-national corporations are using to foster effective relationships with employees and collective representatives (including union officials and works councils).† We will also examine how multi-national corporations are developing global and regional structures to manage their staffs and operations in the face of global pressures.†

Program Overview

In today's increasingly global environment, labor relations and human resource executives confront a host of international and regional issues.† Leading edge multi-national corporations are finding ways to deal with regional regulations, labor rights campaigns, and collective representation pressures.† Global managers must effectively coordinate and utilize a global workforce. These challenges affect labor relations, human resource, and legal managers as well as operational managers.† You need to know how employment practices and regulations work in other countries and what you can do to maximize your international performance.

Whether or not you have a unionized workforce in the United States, your corporation or business is likely to face union or collective representation issues as you expand globally.† In many parts of the world regional employment directives or regional trade pacts now impinge on corporate labor and HR practices.† This course will provide insights and examples to help you maximize your advantage in this global context.
