Course Description: Microsoft FrontPage 2002 is a desktop software application you can use to create, edit, and manage web sites, whether for an intranet or for the World Wide Web.

Course Objective: You will create, edit, and publish web pages that include formatting, FrontPage components, tables, text, and images.

Target Student: Anyone needing the fundamental skills necessary to create, edit, and publish pages that include text and pictures to an intranet or the World Wide Web.

Prerequisites: To ensure your success, we recommend you first take the following Element K course or have equivalent knowledge:

  • Windows 2000 Introduction
  • Microsoft Word 2002 Level 1
  • Microsoft Word 2002 Level 2
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 Introduction

A recommendation is that students have experience surfing the World Wide Web. It is also recommended, but not required, to have taken the following Element K course or have equivalent knowledge:

  • HTML 4.01 Web Authoring Level 1

Delivery Method: Instructor-led, group-paced, classroom-delivery learning model with structured, hands-on activities.

Certification: FrontPage 2002: Level 1 is one of a series of Element K courseware titles that addresses Microsoft Office Specialist (Office Specialist) skill sets. The Office Specialist program is for individuals who use Microsoft's business desktop software and who seek recognition for their expertise with specific Microsoft products. Certification candidates must pass one or more product proficiency exams in order to earn Office Specialist certification.

Hardware Requirements

  • Pentium 133 MHz or higher processor required for all operating systems.
  • 64 MB of RAM is the recommended minimum for Windows 2000 Professional; in addition, you should have 8 MB of RAM for each application running simultaneously. (Note: Memory requirements may differ for other operating systems.)
  • 600 MB of free hard-disk space.
  • Either a local CD-ROM drive or access to a networked CD-ROM drive.
  • A 3.5-inch disk drive.
  • A two-button mouse, an IntelliMouse, or compatible pointing device.
  • VGA or higher-resolution monitor; Super VGA recommended.
  • An installed printer driver. (Printers are not required; however, each PC must have an installed printer driver to use Print Preview.)
  • 9600 baud modem or higher.
  • A multimedia computer required for sound and other multimedia effects. A hardware-accelerated video card or MMX processor will provide improved graphical rendering performance.
  • An Internet connection with access to the World Wide Web is necessary to complete some tasks throughout the book. Note: Internet access may require payment of a separate fee to a service provider; local charges may also apply.

Platform Requirements

Windows 2000 Professional with the Personal Web Manager. This book was written using the Windows 2000 Professional operating system. Using this book with other operating systems may affect how the activities work. Note: The manufacturer states that Microsoft Office XP Professional with FrontPage will work with Microsoft Windows 98, Microsoft Windows ME, and Microsoft Windows NT Workstation 4.0. Office XP Professional with FrontPage will not run on the Microsoft Windows 3.x, Microsoft Windows NT 3.5x, or Microsoft Windows 95 operating systems.
