Auditory processing disorder? Language processing disorder? This practical one day seminar will highlight the roles of the speech language pathologist and the audiologist in assessment and treatment with regards to auditory processing disorder/language disorders. Differential diagnosis of auditory and language processing disorders with deficit specific management will be discussed. Additionally, what steps can be taken in therapy, school and at home to enable children to function more effectively in social and academic environments? Finally, how to handle the stress of living with these disorders.

  • Symptoms and types of APD
  • Home and school strategies and rehabilitative options for children with APDs
  • What is the connection with language processing and APD?
  • Deficit specific management of APD/LP
  • The auditory processing, language and reading connection
  • Coping with APD stressors

  • The attendee will be able to identify behavior differences in children with APD, AD/HD, language disorders and hearing loss.
